Marian Hour of Prayer Service

All parishioners were invited are invited to the Marian Hour of Prayer service, which was held at the church on November 6th . This hour of prayer is in solidarity with Pope Benedict XVI and is part of a world-wide prayer program sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

We turn to Our Lady of Charity for her maternal intercession that we may grow in Love. Under her maternal protection, we gather, open our hearts to Scripture and pray.

Our Lady of Chrity

The Our Lady of Charity icon was on display at Notre Dame from November 6th to 11th 2008 - but turning to Our Lady's intercession is timeless!

Council #4680

The Knight of Columbus is a fraternal organization dedicated to encouraging men to live a life of Faith, Service and Leadership. Although the Knights have a fraternal relationship, they are called to live out St. Pauls exhortation: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her..." Ephesians 5:25.

The Knights of Columbus was formed under the inspiration of Fr. Michael J, McGivney to help members and their families. Its founding principals, namely: Unity, Charity, Fraternity, and Patriotism are constant encouragement for the Knights to become the men God wants them to be. The Knights of Columbus is consecrated to Mother Mary, and is dedicated to the protection of human life, upholding the Churches teachings, and supporting the priesthood.

The Knights of Columbus has grown from several members in one council to more than 13,000 councils and 1.7 million members throughout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Guatemala, Guam and Saipan.

Father Gabriel B. O'Donnell writes:

Protector of Christian Family Life

Sent to serve the young of his flock, Father McGivney in turn "sent" the young men under his influence and direction into the world to become good husbands and fathers, true knights for God and country. His work with the young was but a steppingstone to the formation of strong Catholic families. His dedication to the ideal of Christian manhood expressed so clearly in the founding of the Knights of Columbus was never allowed to obscure his ultimate goal of protecting the good of the entire family unit. Just a couple of years after the Order was established, he began to limit his involvement in the Knights to be available to his whole flock.

Though focused on the task at hand, he never lost sight of his ultimate purpose: to care for and strengthen Christian families. In a sense, the founding of the Knights of Columbus was a means rather than an end: a means to strengthen husbands and fathers so that they could, in turn, strengthen their families in the faith and secure their material well-being.
